Creating entities
In Finaure, the entity forms the basis of every wealth structure, whether it is a private individual, a company, a family or a foundation. Before you can manage investments, bank accounts or documents, the corresponding entity must be created.
On this page you will learn how to create a new entity, which details are required and what to look out for in the individual fields.
Entity types at a glance
Finaure supports different entity types. When creating an entity, choose the type that best fits the respective structure:
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Person | A natural person, e.g. a client or family member |
| Company | An operating company or holding company |
| Family | A family unit that brings together several people and assets |
| Foundation | A charitable or private-benefit foundation |
| Family office | A structure for the central management of family wealth |
| Trust | A fiduciary wealth structure |
| Property company | A company specialising in holding real estate |
| Community of heirs | Several heirs who jointly administer an estate |
Creating a new entity
- In the left-hand menu, go to Entities. This takes you to the overview of all entities in your account.
- Click Create entity at the top right. A form dialogue opens.
- Choose the appropriate entity type (e.g. person, company, foundation). Person is selected by default.
- Enter the master data: the name and, for natural persons, the date of birth.
- Add the address if required: street, postcode, town and country. The country determines the suggested chart of accounts and the tranche calculation.
- Under Identification, optionally enter the tax number and the responsible tax office.
- Under Contact details, add an email address and phone number.
- Use the Notes field for additional information in free text.
- Click Save to create the entity.
Once the entity is saved, it appears in the overview with net worth, liquid assets, assets and liabilities (each €0.00 until you add the first values) and can be linked directly to investments, bank accounts and documents.
The entity type cannot be changed after saving, so choose it carefully. You can create as many entities as you like per account and link them later in the structure overview.
Fields in detail
Master data
- Entity type: determines which further fields are available (e.g. date of birth only for persons). Cannot be changed after saving.
- Name: required field; for persons, first name and surname, for organisations the full name.
- Date of birth: only relevant for natural persons.
The date field formats automatically as DD.MM.YYYY. Enter only the
eight digits (e.g. 05111988). The full stops are added automatically.
If you type the full stops yourself, the field remains empty and only shows the
placeholder.
Address
- Street
- Postcode
- Town
- Country: preset to Germany; influences the suggested chart of accounts.
These details are optional but are recommended for reporting and documents.
Identification
- Tax number
- Tax office
When should I record identification details?
We recommend adding the tax number and tax office at the latest when the entity becomes involved in tax-relevant transactions (e.g. gifts or inheritances). This way the details are available straight away when documents are created.
Contact details
- Email address
- Phone number
Notes
Free-text field for additional information that does not fit any other field, e.g. special arrangements or internal remarks.
Frequently asked questions
Can I edit an entity afterwards?
Yes. In the entities overview, click the entity you want and choose Edit to adjust the master data, address or contact details. Only the entity type can no longer be changed.
Which fields are required?
Only the name is mandatory (the entity type is preset to “Person”). All other fields (address, identification, contact details, notes) are optional, but recommended for a complete overview of your wealth.
What happens if I enter the date of birth incorrectly?
You can clear the field at any time and enter it again. Enter digits only so that the automatic formatting works correctly.
Can I use special characters such as ü or ß?
Yes, all text fields support German special characters and umlauts.
Next step: create assets or investments for your new entity to map the wealth structure completely.
