Creating a new asset
- In the left-hand menu, open the Assets area.
- Click Create asset at the top right.
- Choose the appropriate category, e.g. property, vehicle, securities account or bank account.
- Under Basic data, enter a meaningful name and choose the owner.
- Optional: under Image, upload a photo by drag & drop or take one directly.
- Under Valuation, record the purchase price and acquisition date as well as the current value with its valuation date, together with the currency and location or storage place.
- Under Type of use, choose between “Private”, “Business”, “Lettings” or “Not specified”.
- In the Identification area, fill in the category-specific fields: for a vehicle, e.g. make, model, registration number and VIN; for a property, the address and land register details; for a securities account, the account number and bank.
- Add technical details and running costs, such as insurance or service charges, if required.
- Record additional details in the Notes.
- Click Save. Your new asset appears in the overview immediately.
You can also add a photo later. To do so, click Edit for your asset in the overview.
Required fields are marked with an asterisk (*). An asset cannot be saved without a name and an owner. All other fields are optional but contribute to a more complete valuation.

Date fields: For most date fields (e.g. acquisition date, as of),
you enter only the digits, e.g. 15062023. Finaure adds the full stops in the
DD.MM.YYYY format automatically. Some category-specific fields
(e.g. “First registration” or “Next roadworthiness test” for vehicles) instead use
your browser’s calendar. If you want to change a date that has already been filled in there,
first clear the field completely or choose the date using the
calendar picker.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change the details later?
Yes. In the assets overview, click Edit for your entry to adjust any field at any time.
What happens if I do not fill in “Current value”?
The last known value or the purchase price is then used for the overview. For a realistic overview of your wealth, we recommend updating the current value regularly.
Is the type of use mandatory?
No, it is optional. However, it helps you with reports, filters and permissions, so we recommend specifying it wherever possible.
Can I upload several photos per asset?
At present, one image can be stored per asset. You can replace it at any time via Edit.
Do the fields differ by category?
Yes. Basic data, valuation and type of use are the same for all categories. Identification, technical data and running costs adapt automatically to the chosen category; for a vehicle, for example, you will see fields such as VIN or HSN/TSN.
